Tribune Regional Broadcast Center is looking for a systems engineer to oversee, design and develop IT based broadcast systems at its studio, transmitter and remote locations.
Job Description: This position, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, requires experience in maintaining and troubleshooting a wide variety of IP based systems critical to our broadcast operation. Applicant must be proficient with complex IP systems as well as possess a cursory knowledge of digital audio / video systems. Experience with non-linear editing, broadcast station automation, graphics generation and rendering systems (and related storage technologies) is desirable, but not required. This “never stops learning” position requires the desire and drive to stay competent in the latest trends in broadcast television and related internet / web systems.
Qualifications Necessary: The candidate must be highly organized with a good sense of how to prioritize deadlines and multitasking. As is typical with critical IT systems, the applicant must be willing to be on call.
The successful candidate will have functional skill set capabilities that include:
-A working knowledge of PHP programming, as many of the internal systems are developed in PHP.
-If you can provide applicable knowledge to the following, you should apply:
- the ability to select the appropriate subnet mask for an IP network given the number of hosts and network use description
- Understanding of the difference between a NAT and a PAT
- Difference between and an IP address and IP port – as well as typical well-known ports.
- Use of a packet sniffer to assist system debugging
- Address ranges used in public and private IP address.
