Jim began his career in Fort Wayne, IN back in 1996, followed by 3 years in his hometown of Louisville at WLKY-32.
Jim has a B.S. in Atmospheric Science and a B.A. in Communications from Western Kentucky University. He continues to stay updated in the latest weather advancements through coursework from both Mississippi State University and Portland State University. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association, where he has been awarded the seals of approval for his outstanding work in the meteorological field.
In 2007, Jim was awarded the presitgious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal. He is one of only a few in the state who have qualified, tested, and passed this rigorous program.
While studying in college, Jim also served in the military at Fort Knox. He was a member of the Kentucky Army National Guard for close to 6 years with a specialty in reconnaissance and light weaponry.In his spare time, Jim enjoys traveling with his wife Melissa "Missy" and daughter's Molly "Moo" and Riley "Peapod".
At home you'll find him competing with his neighbor's yard, playing pretty ponies, or having an occasional tea-party. And if time permits watching a Colts or Cubs game to keep his "man card" active.
