INDIANAPOLIS —
Indiana republican Congressman Pence was fresh off a plane Monday and immediately begain talking with constituents. It's part of what could be a final push to keep the Democratic health care reform bill from passing in its current state."What is very clear is that they don't have the votes and actually the votes they are looking for might actually be decided right here in Indiana," said Pence.
The Congressman is referring to his Indiana colleagues -- Hoosier Democrats Donnelly, Hill, and Elsworth. None of the three have made their healthcare bill decision known.
"I think what Pence said is a little bit of an exaggeration," said University of Indianapolis political science professor emeritus Dr. Stephen Graham.
Dr. Graham understands it will be just a few votes one way or the other that will decide the fate of this reform bill
"If you just polled everybody you would get in the Congress you would find a lot more undecided votes than their really are."
Dr. Graham calls the planned rallies at the Indiana Statehouse on Monday afternoon the squaring off of the coffee and tea parties. Pence will speak in support of the tea variety.
Organizing For America's Indiana director Nick Buis prefers coffee in this case.
"We've been talking about this day for 9 months. Its time for an up or down vote. Who is with President Obama or with the insurance companies."
