Mother accused of hitting son with hammer for eating her food

A Fort Wayne mother was arrested Wednesday after police said she beat her son on the head with a hammer after he ate her food.

Chandra Greene, 32, was charged with three felony counts of neglect of a dependent. 

According to the Journal Gazette, court documents revealed an Indiana Department of Child Services caseworker received a tip that Greene did not have electricity in her home and that she hit her son with a hammer.

The paper reported the caseworker made a visit to Greene’s home and noted the place was “filthy” and without electricity.  Additionally, the caseworker saw Greene’s son head injury and advised Greene to take him to the hospital.

At the hospital, the young boy told police he was beat up at the park but later told child services his mom hit him.  According to the Journal Gazette, court documents stated the boy said his mother struck him with a hammer on his leg, arm, head and in between the eyes with a hammer. 

Greene has two other children. She was charged with three counts of neglect for each of her three children.
