An Indiana Community is on alert after the report of a woman raped in her home while her five children slept.

Detectives say the latest attack is part of a disturbing trend of home invasions and attacks in Richmond.

Fear fills the Richmond neighborhood as word spreads about the home invasion that ended with a woman raped inside her house while her five children were sleeping and her husband was at work.

"You don't even want to come outside, unlock your doors or anything" Says, Melissa Blackwell.

"I don't feel safe here anymore and I've lived here for 40 years" Cheryl Richardson told Fox 59.

Detectives say the man went to a house a little after midnight on Sunday and knocked on the door. Lieutenant Brad Berner explained what occurred.

"She opened up the door person dressed in all black with black ski mask forced his way inside the door. Threw her down on the steps and was demanding money."

But she didn't have any money; the suspect then forced her to go upstairs where he raped her in the living room, telling her to be quiet.

This most recent incident follows a series of home invasion and sexual assault cases that stem to August 2007.

Detectives don't know if this latest case is connected to those, but just last week on South 15th Street a man attacked a woman inside her home as she called 911.

Residents are hoping the suspect is caught soon, so far he's left little evidence.
