Ivy Tech Community College celebrated the expansion of its Indianapolis' campus Friday.
School and city officials announced the grand opening of the Illinois Fall Creek Center.
The more than 200,000 square foot building was once St. Vincent hospital but now it's a building dedicated to higher education.
The center features 29 classrooms, eight science labs, four computer labs and six study rooms. It also boasts a cafe and two community rooms.
"It's an addition that is long overdue this building sat underutilized for three decades almost and this is now a community building it's not only for the students that are here but its' for the entire community," said Thomas Snyder, President of Ivy Tech Community College.
Enrollment at the Indianapolis campus has more than doubled during the last 10 years. The school has an enrollment of more than 35,000 students.
