12 Braised pork shanks trimmed
1 1/2 quart frying oil

Sauce

2 Liter  Root Beer
12 oz. Apple Butter
4 Tablespoons hot sauce

 

To do ahead: Reduce root beer by half on low heat then fold in apple butter. keep sauce mixture on low until slightly thick. once sauce has cooled whisk in hot sauce.

Deep fry braised pork shanks at 350 degrees for 3 minutes or until crispy and browned. lather shanks in apple butter sauce while hot and serve.
