The major moves construction project on I-465 is causing drivers to plan ahead. Work being done on the northeast corridor of the interstate is making the rush hour commute more difficult.

The plan is to widen and rebuild the highway into four lanes each direction. The current work area between Allisonville Road and U-S 31 should be completed by next fall. Some drivers have complained of too many lane closures.

A State Department of Transportation spokesman, Ashley Hungate says lanes will not be close during peak driving hours.

"So probably between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. overnight or on Saturdays and Sundays and that would typically be only one possibly a two lane restriction overnight."

Despite that assurance, some drivers like Chris Nelson have other plans.

"I usually try to use another route. I try to go someplace else. I just try to stay away from it."
