Police: Rifle found in Bloomington student's car

The 17-year-old student told police it was in the backseat because he went target shooting the night before. Police said the rifle was not loaded.

A Bloomington High School student has been charged with a felony after a rifle was found in the backseat of his car while he was at school.

The 17-year-old student told police it was in the backseat because he went target shooting the night before. Police said the rifle was not loaded.

The teenager stated he spent the night at a friend's house and did not make it home before school the next day.  He said he forgot the rifle was in his car.

His case was sent to the Monroe County Juvenile Probation Department.
