Only on Fox59: Man accused of child pornography admits he has a problem

A 60-year-old man has reportedly admitted to secretly filming teenage girls. Police said Robert Suits is facing child pornography charges for taping the girls at a mall and restaurant in Greenwood.

Investigators also said some of the images were of girls younger than 16. Police in Anderson are now investigating whether he filmed young girls there as well.

Rodger Suits agreed to talk to Fox59 reporter Gene Cox in Anderson at the Madison County jail Friday. Normally when we talk to inmates after they have been charged, they tell us how innocent they are. This was not the case.


Rodger Suits was arrested early Thursday morning on Scatterfield Road in Anderson. According to Anderson Police he was living in his car. They found him outside a health club in a car officers would soon discover contained what appeared to be child pornography.

At first Suits said he didn't want to discuss what he may or may not have done wrong. However, later in a jailhouse interview, he began to open up about why he thinks he needs the help of a psychiatrist.

"I am normal. I can do anything, be with anything, do everything but I have this little thing on the side that's not right. And I just..."

Reporter: "Have you ever touched or molested a child?"

Suits: "Never, never, never that's the whole point I am not that type. I can't handle that. I feel like it's not right, it's dirty."

An Anderson Police spokesperson said part of what they found in the car included CDs with images from a mall and restaurant that appeared to be secretly recorded in Greenwood. It appeared to detectives he was using a three ring binder to hide the camera.

With three-ring binders being so portable, you can imagine why authorities in many communities would be interested to see just how well travelled the binder and Mr. Suits was.

"No, that's not what's coming up in my story. There is no girl no children involved in this at all its something just I did," said Suits.

Suits said he was sexually abused as a child, almost raped he claimed, on more than one occasion. That, he thinks, led him to this moment in his life.

Reporter: "Is this embarrassing?"

Suits: "I just wish I hadn't been caught with it because they would have never known."

The 60-year-old Lawrence County Indiana native seemed to know child pornography is wrong.

Reporter: "Do you hope that a rehabilitation would be better than an incarceration?"

Suits: "Yes, I would rather get counseling than go to prison. It's better."

Rodger Suits has a $25,000 for this felony charge. He said it's a cash bond and his family has not spoken to him yet. He doesn't know if he will be able to get the money to get out.
