Indianapolis—
The Colts didn't play Tuesday, but thanks to Monday's lockout breakthrough, the team will back on the field this season. Ticket offices are already buzzing with activity though the Super Bowl isn't for another few months. "I didn't think they were gonna play, my son wanted to go to the Superbowl, and he said, not gonna happen, not gonna happen," fan Stacy Haines said.
But happen it will and with it, the opening of the floodgates for ticket sales, which until recently, were in limbo.
"It's been slow, the fans have been reluctant to purchase then yesterday afternoon, it was back to old times," said Renny Harrison of Fanfare Tickets.
Harrison said in In the last 24-hours, Colts ticket sales topped what Fanfare sold through the entire summer. Because demand hasn't reestablished itself totally yet, tickets will cost less, too, about 25% less.
"Overall our prices are lower this summer than they were last summer. There's a good opportunity for fans to get out there and get a good deal," he said.
To generate his own post-lockout excitement, Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that he's offering $20 off all jerseys at the pro-shop. That deal is good through Saturday.
As for Colts tickets, that good deal may last a while. The Colts don't have what Renny calls a dream season lineup. The Colts-Steelers matchup during the regular season and the Packers in the pre-season will be most in demand. Pre-season lower level tickets start at $39. Regular season seats at $110.
"We need to get everything going, get players back, get some tv coverage and get some action going before prices begin to take off."
