The woman then said she told Harden she didn't want her daughter to be late for school and he allowed them to leave.

Once at the school, the woman contacted police. When police arrived at Harden's apartment, he refused to come out. His mother was still inside, but it was uncertain whether she was being held against her will.

3 1/2 hours later, the standoff ended peacefully. Harden's mother came out first, and soon after, Harden followed.

We're told the incident stemmed from an argument with a neighbor. Investigators say a neighbor came in contact with the man who had a shot gun, and he apparently said something to the neighbor that sparked an issue.

The neighbor reported the man with the gun at a nearby school where she had dropped off her child.
