Sunday, about 25-people looked, and then looked again, hardly able to believe what they were seeing.
"I've seen a lot of things, but this was a little bit more than what we would ever expect," eyewitness Brian Davison said.
What they were seeing, according to police, was a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman having sex right there in the pool.
"we've tried to make this a family place and it's not a family place when you're coming, doing lewd acts like that," Connersville Sports and Activies Director Daryl Drew said.
After multiple complaints from parents and other pool patrons, the pool manager approached the couple, broke them up in the act, and told them police were on the way. Connersville police arrived and issued no-tresspass orders to Myron Helms and Victoria Cross.
"We cleared the pool, put new chemicals in, recycled the whole water," Drew said.
"That's disgusting. People shouldn't be doing that with kids," Davison said.
The no-tresspass order was the first step. The Fayette County Prosecutors Office filed public indecency charges against Helms and Cross tuesday morning. A warrant for their arrests is expected.
"It's just unacceptable. You know, we don't need that kind of stuff here in Connersville," Drew said.
Pool managers and patrons are angry because they say a 39-and 40-year-old couple should know better especially considering that Helms is a reserve officer with the Laurel Police Department.
The department says Helms has been with them on a part-time basis for several years. He is now on un-paid leave pending the investigation.
