The driver involved in an early morning crash that killed one person and injured another, is facing charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Hannah Freeman crossed the center line on State Road 37 near Essig Avenue near Strawtown, when she crossed over into the southbound line and crashed head-on with an oncoming vehicle. The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. Friday.
The driver of the other car, identified as 50-year-old Larrie Foor of Elwood, died at the scene.
The passenger in the car, 19-year-old Amber McKinley, was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment of lacerations. McKinley underwent surgery Friday afternoon for those injuries.
Freeman was hospitalized and underwent surgery for a broken leg.
While Freemen has never been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated before, she has been caught speeding and driving without a license.
