An Indianapolis man has been arrested for hurting a baby. He's accused of causing brain injuries to his four month-old child.
21 year-old Elvin S. Cabrera brought the child to Wishard Hospital Friday night, saying the baby had been ill. Due to the seriousness of the child's injuries, the child was transferred to Riley Hospital. There, police say the baby was placed on a ventilator with severe brain damage.
Learning what exactly happened was difficult for detectives, because neither mother or father speak English.
Following interviews with Cabrera and doctors, detectives arrested the father. He now faces charges of aggravated battery. Additional charges are pending, once the prosecutor's office has reviewed the case.
At last check, the baby was still in very critical condition.
