Fire crews were busy fighting four Westside fires in a four hour span overnight on Tuesday.

The first call came in just after 11pm. It was a trailer fire at Midwest auto sales on Lafayette Road. The second call was for a garage fire near 25th and Harding Streets. While they were on the scene, someone ran up to the firefighters and told them about a house fire about two blocks away at 25th and Barnes.

Several crews worked on all four fires. One firefighter was slightly injured with a pulled muscle.

Another fire broke out around 9:50AM Tuesday morning and fire fighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Station Street for a reported house fire.

Firefighters arrived within minutes to find a one story wood frame, single residence fully involved with heavy fire and smoke blowing from the structure. Firefighters made a quick offensive attack but were pulled out after 8 minutes to go defensive. It took them approximately 30 minutes to get this fire under control.

One firefighter suffered a slight hand injury and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. According to the residents, they were watching tv and napping when the circuit breaker tripped the lights off and the tv off. Simultaneously the smoke detector went off. They got up to go see what was making the detector go off and the back of the house was fully involved in fire.

The house is a total loss with damage estimated at 80,000. The family is convinced the wiring has something to do with the fire and they say that their complaints over the 6 months they have lived there have fallen on deaf ears.
