PREVIOUS STORY:
Indiana state lawmakers wrapped up their work for the 2010 General Session early Saturday morning, a day before the March 14th statutory deadline.
The state's stressed economy had a major impact on legislation considered this session. An early bipartisan agreement limited the consideration of bills to only those with little or no cost to the state. In total, House and Senate members introduced 811 bills and 25 joint resolutions. Â Lawmakers postponed changes to the state's unemployment insurance tax - that will come back up next year.
Several job creation proposals did make it through, including giving tax credits to new or expanding businesses. School systems were also given options to make up for budget shortfalls from the state.
A tougher ethics law was also passed for lawmakers.
