Group pushing for Indiana to change to central time

The group said moving to CST would reduce the number of days buses arrive in the dark.

Indianapolis

A group is launching a petition drive to get Indiana to switch to the central time zone.

According to the Central Time Coalition, eight students have been run over in the hour before sunrise and six others have been robbed or attacked while waiting for the bus or walking to school.

The group said moving to CST would reduce the number of days buses arrive in the dark.

Only the U.S. Department of Transportation can change time zones but the governor can request a switch.

The group is seeking 100,000 signatures.
