Thieves are keeping busy in Western Hancock County near the Marion County line. The new criminal activity is an unwelcome nuisance to homeowners in the Meadows Lane area near East 21st Street.
More than a dozen residents woke up Friday morning to find items missing from their unlocked cars and truck tool boxes.
David Griffin's son had his car window broken and personal items stolen including an expensive MP3 player.
Griffin plans to help police with evidence if thieves strike his property again.
"I figure if I put a security camera out here the next time they try it hopefully I'll be able to catch them on video," Griffin told FOX 59 News.
A couple of miles away two subdivisions in Cumberland were hit by thieves earlier this month. Those crimes were all reported as home burglaries.
Investigators ask homeowners to lock up and put up their valuables.
