HOUSTON, TX —
After taking a flight that his 49 year old MySpace acquaintance paid for a 15 year old Wabash, Indiana boy arrived at an upscale Houston, Texas condominium December 20th.According to Harris County, Texas prosecutor Eric Devlin the boy was sexually assaulted over a ten day period by Kevin Lee Sellars.
"He was not exactly a willing participant in the sexual acts. We did find a positive HIV test for the defendant," Devlin told FOX 59 News.
The 49 year old is now in jail, but his MySpace page is still active. On the page the accused declares his love for "chasing boys" and calls himself a "redneck homosexual."
Police in texas were alerted to the case when the boy's grandmother who lives in the Wabash area called authorities. Her grandson had just allegedly received this internet message from Sellars: "I have HIV. You probably do to. Have a nice life."
Prosecutors are charging Sellars with aggravated sexual assault of a child and using a deadly weapon: his own bodily fluids. Indiana State Police First Sergeant Scott Stockton urges parents and guardians to, in effect, save young internet surfers from themselves.
"They're unspeakable crimes and it gets into the mindset of the accused befriending their victims and making it seem like they understand how they feel," Stockton said.
Indiana State Police detectives say they continue to investigate an increasing number of felony cases that begin on social networking web pages.
"You've gotta know what they are looking at," Stockton said.
Kevin Lee Sellars is in the Harris County, Texas jail.
The prosecutor is not yet sure if the Wabash boy has tested positive for HIV.
