A rally held Monday at the Statehouse, organized by Jesus Metropolitan Church of Indianapolis, was in protest of H.J.R. 6, the bill that would make the state law banning same sex marriage in Indiana more permanent in the form of a constitutional amendment.

The group calls the bill "hate legislation," claiming it is more discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

"At a time when our State faces so many challenges, I can’t believe the Republican Party of Indiana is insisting on legislation that promotes hate and division. What they’re doing is evil. It’s pandering to the religious right. Using the Constitution to target a group of people for discrimination is un-American and un-Christian. In our country, all people should be treated equally under the law," said senior pastor Rev. Jeff Minor.

Protesters carried signs, asking "Would Jesus discriminate?"
