The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's CEO announced Thursday that he is stepping down, according to our partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Simon Crookall has been with the ISO for seven years.

He endured a fallout with past music director Mario Venzago and the symphony's financial problems following the 2008 recession.

Crookall said the ISO will have a balanced budget by august 2014.
