Kokomo Police investigate Sunday morning shooting

Investigators do not believe this shooting is related to other recent Kokomo shootings

Kokomo, Ind.

Kokomo Police are investigating the fifth shooting in less than a week.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Mulberry Street just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, officers found a man laying in a yard with a wound to his head.

Medics transported the victim, identified as 23-year old Taurean T. Jones of Kokomo, to St. Joseph Hospital. He was later transported by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Kokomo Police investigators have learned an incident took place at 1108 East Mulberry Street which resulted in several shots being fired.

A 17-year old male has been detained in connection with the shooting.

The Kokomo Police say there is no reason to believe this shooting is related to recent shootings in Kokomo.
