Lawrence police investigate after man found dead in alley

The Lawrence Police Department is investigating the death of a man found in an alley Tuesday night.

Police received a call of shots fired just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night in the 5200 block of Traditions Drive, near 52nd Street and Mithoefer Road.

Arriving officers found Demetrios Williams, 45, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was found in an alley located immediately east of Traditions Drive.

Detectives said Williams was visiting friends and the area when he was shot several times in the alley.


Police said the circumstances of the shooting are still unknown. However, police said a possible suspect vehicle was spotted leaving the area after the shooting occurred.  The vehicle was described as a dark-colored passenger car with no hub caps.
