Six Public Libraries in Danger of Closing

The Indianapolis Public Library announced Thursday that it intends to close up to six library branches. One branch that could be closed is located inside Glendale Mall.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Library Board said the library system faces a loss of $2.6 million in 2010, and that something needs to be done.

"Based on what we saw today, there was only one option that didn't have branch closings, and all of the cost cutting measures that were part of option one still showed us $1.5 million short," said Board President Tom Shevlot.
