Lightning is being blamed for two Central Indiana house fires.
A fire broke out after lightning struck the roof of a home near Geist Reservoir early Thursday morning.
The homeowner said it hit her daughter's room. When the lights went out, she called 911 and followed the operator's advice to get out of the house. After they evacuated, the roof caved in and flames shot up out of the house.
No one was hurt but the family won't be able to move back home for at least four months.
Lightning also started a house fire in Pike Township Thursday morning.
Nobody was home at the time. Neighbors said it took a while for them to notice the house near 71st and Guion was on fire because it is tucked away from the road.
The home partially collapsed by the time firefighters arrived.
