Sunday’s severe storms caused problems for fire departments around the area. Lighting was blamed for several house fires including one in Fishers and another in Lawrence Township.During the height of the storm fire crews were dispatched to homes and apartment complexes across the city. Photos were sent in from Tina Smith at Stop 18 in Greenwood of a house fire. Fire fighters say lightning is believed to be the cause.
Between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm fire crews were sent on 13 investigation runs, all because of weather. Nine of those were confirmed lightning strikes and three of those started fires.
And in regards to a fire in Greenwood, Facebook user Laura Moore writes “we seen it before the fire dept got there. My husband looking out our window then seen a fire. Crazy I hope everyone got out safe.”
No injuries were reported in any of the fires.
