A mock nuclear disaster taking place this week in Central Indiana has soldiers, marines, and private contractors learning to work together.

Monday one of the military's top general's heralded the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in Jennings County as a world class facility.

"This facility at Muscatatuck is second to none," Air Force General Victor Renuart, Jr. Said.

General Renuart and other top generals toured the disaster operations on the 1,000 acre site as more than 4,000 civilians and active duty military personnel worked to find actors hired to portray victims.

Contractors like Tim Gallagher with Safety Solutions, Incorporated believe they are witnessing the training today of tomorrow's disaster response heroes.

"If you want to use the word hero on them that is exactly correct because look what they are doing. They are full time training trying to improve their operations so they can serve the citizens of this country in an unfortunate situation like a disaster," Gallagher told FOX 59 News.

The military expects to spend up to $200 million by 2014 to complete the urban training center.

The training at Muscatatuck that's being supported by operations at Camp Atterbury in Bartholomew County continues until the end of the week.
