Mel Simon's widow defends changes to billionaire's will

The widow of Indianapolis billionaire Mel Simon says she did not coerce her husband to change his will months before his death.

INDIANAPOLIS—

According to court documents Bren Simon says her husband changed his will to prevent his children from controlling their stepmother's finances after his death. Mel Simon's daughter, Deborah, filed a lawsuit accusing her stepmother of changing the will to get more money.

Mel Simon's fortune is estimated around $1.3 billion. He died in September after battling pancreatic cancer.
