Tuesday, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels (R) took to national airwaves to address several key national issues. Whether it was the death of Osama bin Laden or his plans for the White House, Gov. Daniels touched on it on "Fox & Friends." (WXIN-TV FOX59 / May 3, 2011) |
Indianapolis—
Governor Mitch Daniel's possible run for president continues to gain national support. A political website announced Monday that Daniels is definitely throwing his hat into the ring.Even though Governor Daniels has yet to make an announcement, it hasn't stopped newspapers or fellow politicians from endorsing him nor has it stopped political websites like pculcpa.com from making the decision for him.
At the American Enterprise Institute last week, Daniels tip-toed around the issue, telling reporters he didn't think it was too late to enter the ring.
"I really thought it might become too late somewhere along the line. If it had it would have been that. But for whatever reason I think it is a happy surprise," Daniels said.
Another happy surprise came in the way of a Washington Post op-ed piece Sunday that named Daniels as the only credible alternative to Obama.
Then Monday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie expressed his support on a Philadelphia radio show.
In fact, political analyst Brian Howey said Daniels is never going to see a more wide open road to the nomination than right now.
"I've never seen something like this where it's all coming together perfect timing and the fields wide open," Howey said."I think the nomination is his if he can run the kind of presidential campaigns that he did here in Indiana in 2004 and 2008."
