Moped driver struck, killed on Martinsville Bypass

Martinsville, Ind.

Martinsville Police closed the State Road 39 Bypass for nearly two hours while officers investigated a fatal accident.

Officers responded to the intersection of State Road 39 and Mitchell Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the report of an accident involving a moped and a car.

When they arrived, officers found the driver of the moped had been thrown from his vehicle. The driver died as a result of his injuries.

The driver's name is not being released until family members can be notified.

State Road 39 Bypass reopened around 11:30 p.m.
