Plan to extend mass transit system stalled at Indiana Statehouse

The plan to expand mass transit in Central Indiana has stalled. A House committee voted against a bill Thursday that would have called for a referendum on raising taxes to pay for the plan.

The money would cover a 10-year, $1.3 billion project that would double IndyGo service and add a rail line from Noblesville to downtown Indianapolis.

Leaders at the Indiana Statehouse said the plan isn't dead yet and that it could be added on to other bills that have already cleared the House or the Senate.
