GREENWOOD, IN—
UPDATE: Greenwood Police arrested 47 year-old Tony Perkins Friday for two counts of witholding information. Police asaid Perkins slept with multiple women without telling them he has AIDS. Perkins was arrested at his apartment Friday afternoon and taken to Greenwood Police headquarters where he confessed he had slept with at least eleven women without disclosing to them he had full blown AIDS."He's not a man, he's a monster," said one woman who Perkins slept with .
"He told me he had AIDS," said Perkins ex-girlfriend who turned him in.
"He doesn't care about anyone but himself he's an addict, a sex addict."
Police think Perkins was infected more than six years ago. In fact, Indiana health department officials warned Perkins not to have unprotected sex with women knowing he was contagious with the HIV virus. According to the probable cause report exclusively obtained by Fox59, Perkins wanted to exact revenge on the woman who gave him HIV.
It's unclear who he contracted it from but reports are he possibly got it from a prostitute or an ex-girlfriend. According to Perkins ex-girlfriend, Perkins said he felt any woman who slept with him on the first few dates deserved to get HIV from him. He told another alleged victim he was allergic to latex, and couldn't wear a condom.
The victim told Fox59 she believed him and had unprotected sex. The two female victims Fox59 exclusively spoke to say, so far, they've tested negative for HIV.
Fox59 tried to talk to Tony Perkins but he didn't have much to say as Greenwood Police took him in handcuffs and placed him in the wagon to go to the Johnson County Jail outside Franklin.
"I didn't do anything wrong," said Perkins as he got into the van. "I was just trying to find a woman to be in my life."
Police believe that's a lie. His former lovers say he picked up women on the internet singles site plentyoffish.com. His ex girlfriend said his m.o. was to invite women to his Greenwood apartment and tell them they could drink wine and get high.
Sources say he would try to hook up with women in towns about an hour away from Greenwood including Danville, Avon and Spencer.
His ex-girlfriend who Fox59 News has chosen not to identify in order to protect her privacy said Perkins' daughter told her he had AIDS.
"She said she had watched countless women fall for her father, and that she could no longer sit back and see someone get infected and some women die."
One of the alleged victims said she knows one of Perkins' ex-girlfriends who did die of AIDS.
"Yes, she got it from him," said the woman crying.
"He was very remorseful of what he's done and realized he made not one but many mistakes," said Detective Rex Saltsgaver, with Greenwood Police.
"He had a duty to tell other partners and was not allowed to sell blood or anything like that," said Doug Cummins, who is prosecuting the case for Johnson county.
Greenwood police continue to investigate. They say any woman who slept with Perkins needs to get an AIDS test and can call Greenwood police for helpat 317-882-9191. Perkins could get more than ten years depending on how many women come forward saying he slept with them and didn't tell them.
"Just be careful," said Perkins ex-girlfriend who turned d him in. "If you're with someone, before you have sex, make them get an AIDS test and if they don't you know why." She then broke down again in tears.
PREVIOUS STORY:
Greenwood Police arrested a man they say had sexual relations with a woman without telling her he was HIV positive. That is against Indiana law.
Investigators brought Tony Perkins in for questioning Friday night.
According to police documents, a woman came forward to say Perkins may have had unprotected sex with upwards of 100 partners. She told investigators that she could no longer hold her silence knowing he was spreading HIV. She says he never told her about his HIV status despite having sex with her at least 50 times.
She told investigators when she confronted Perkins, he broke down and admitted to having unprotected sex with many women and explained "that since he got AIDS from a whore, and if any woman was dumb enough to sleep with him, in his eyes, he would be giving it back to a whore."
Health department records show Perkins was told of his HIV status in 2004 and had been told again in 2008 that it was against the law for HIV-positive people who know their status to have sexual relations without disclosing the information.
He's facing two counts of failure of carrier's duty to warn and one count of intimidation.
