IU looks to block porn sites from using university-related names

Bloomington, Ind.

Indiana University doesn't want to be connected to pornography so it's buying 11-website names using a new suffix typically used for adult entertainment.

The school is paying $2,200 to secure IndianaUniversity.xxx, Hoosiers.xxx, IUPUI.xxx and others based on the regional campus. If someone else were to start using those domain names, it could cost the university thousands of dollars to fight it legally.

The deal will lock up those names for the next 10-years.
