Proposal to regulate national anthem performances withdrawn

If it had passed, it would have required any public performance to be of the entire song without any embellishment.

Indianapolis

A proposal to regulate the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" has been withdrawn.

If it had passed, it would have required any public performance to be of the entire song without any embellishment.

It also would have required the State Education Department to set standards for the singing and playing of the national anthem at schools.

Senator Vaneta Becker said she doesn't plan to push the proposal again this session.
