An Indiana Department of Transportation worker was killed Thursday after a fiery accident near Seymour.  That driver has been identified as Gregory Lawdermilt of North Vernon, Ind.

Emergency workers were on the scene at I-65, just north of Seymour, for a majority of the day.  Indiana State Police said a Cadillac driven by 49-year-old Kathryn Clayton was driving southbound on I-65 when she lost control of her vehicle on an icy bridge around 9:30 a.m. Clayton’s vehicle began to skid and struck a southbound Freightliner semi.

Police said Lawdermilt was driving a Dodge vehicle and came up behind Clayton’s car and activated the car’s emergency lights.  Police said shortly after, another semi, driven by 50-year-old Robert Burger, hit and ran over the top of the Dodge vehicle.  Both cars skidded off the roadway into the median and immediately burst into flames.

Lawdermilt became trapped and subsequently died.
