The Indianapolis Super Bowl Legacy Project kicked off Friday morning on the near east side.

The project is funded in part by $1 million NFL charities grant.

"Youth education towns are one of the game’s greatest achievements," said Commissioner Roger Goodell. "Supporting our communities is an important part of what the NFL stands for."

One of the four key initiatives of the project is housing redevelopment, and to date, 397 homes or apartments have been built, rehabbed or repaired.

They plan to revitalize 10 homes and build a new playground in the near east side.
