Former Covington superintendent arrested for forgery and theft
On Friday, November 13, 2009 officers from the Indiana State Police arrested Nathan E. Evans, former Superintendent of the Covington Community School Corporation on seventeen criminal counts.

The arrest follows a lengthy investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Indiana State Board of Accounts that started in February of 2009. The investigation began as a result of a routine audit by the State Board of Accounts when discrepancies in school accounts were found.

The completed investigation was turned over to the Fountain County Prosecutor's Office for review. As a result of the investigation, seventeen counts were filed in the Fountain County Circuit Court. The charges included two counts of Forgery; a class C Felony, fourteen counts of Theft; a class D Felony, and one count of Perjury; a class D Felony.

Nathan Evans was incarcerated in the Fountain County Jail following his arrest. He was released when bond was posted. An initial court appearance is set for December 15, 2009 in the Fountain Circuit Court in Covington.
