Two women were injured as the SUV they were driving slammed into an empty house in Lawrence Monday afternoon.
A witness told Fox59 News he began following the vehicle after it left a McCordsville convenience store after the driver refused to pay for gasoline.
"At that time they ran two or three stop signs," said Jason Peak as he surveyed the accident scene at 75th Street and Cobblestone. "I continued to follow them til they took off at a rate of speed probably 80-100 miles per hour."
The vehicle left the road, carved a path through a front lawn, struck a power pole blowing out a transformer and snapping wires, rolled several times and came to a rest next to a house, caving in a garage wall.
"At that time I pulled the driver out of the car," said Peak who then helped the woman's grandmother breathe until paramedics arrived.
Investigators will wait to determine the older woman's injuries before charging the driver.
