Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 8700 block of Center Street Wednesday afternoon to assist the Clermont Police Department.
At around 12:15 p.m., officers with the Clermont police told IMPD a Brian Warfield, 19, had shot Eric Wilson in the alley west of Crawfordsville Road. Wilson suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper thigh. He was transferred to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.
Police say Warfield then fled to a home in the 8800 block of Lippard Lane. Authorities heard two gunshots from inside the residence. IMPD SWAT was then called to the scene to assist police.
Several unsuccessful attempts were made to try and communicate with Warfield, who was barricaded within the home. Police say SWAT members went inside the home, and found Warfield dead, suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police believe the suspect may have had a mental condition.
