The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have announced conservation officers have finished their investigation into the death of the 17-year-old fatally shot in Shelby Co. while playing paintball with his family.

DNR said Brandon Spangler was shot in a privately owned, wooded area in Shelby County on December 30.

Spangler's father said his family had permission to be on the property.  However, the alleged shooter, 41-year old Jason Bagley, said he did not know the family was on the property.  Bagley told police he believed the moving objects were coyotes.

The investigation reportedly found Bagley fired several shots from his rifle, fatally striking Spangler in the shoulder.
