Doctors say getting a text can flood the brain's pleasure center with mood enhancers. They say texting addictions are similar to alcohol and drug addictions.“Neuro-imaging studies have shown that those kids who are texting have that area of the brain light up the same as an addict using heroin,” says Dr. Michael Seyffert.
Believe it or not there are rehab centers for addictions related to computer and cell phone use. Doctors say the best way to prevent your teen from developing a texting addiction is to set rules about cell phone use.
