Senator Richard Lugar is urging Hilary Clinton to reunite Vietnamese orphans with their adoptive parents.
Fox59 first reported about 16 orphans living in a former prison last week. Three Indiana families are among those matched with the children. The rules were changed just weeks before the adoption process was complete, though.
It has been three years since that happened and the children are still living in poor conditions and remain separated from their new families.
In a letter to the Secretary of State, Lugar said the families "are separated from children they clearly desire to adopt, their anxiety driven further by reports that some of their children are in need of medical attention and may be experiencing malnutrition. The lack of consistent information from the department has left them feeling that their cases have been consigned to diplomatic oblivion."
The senator asked Secretary Clinton for all letters, emails, and other paperwork between the Department of State and Vietnam regarding these adoptions.
No word on if that request has been met yet.
