INDIANAPOLIS —
Indianapolis Metro Police are investigating an early-morning homicide on Indianapolis' South Side. Investigators say a clerk at the Village Pantry in the 1400 block of South Meridian was found dead early Saturday morning.A customer noticed two white males behind the counter gathering items when he arrived. He pursued the two males after they fled the store. They were last seen in the neighborhood on foot just south and east of the business. They are described as being about 18 to 24 years of age, 5'8" tall, medium build, wearing dark hooded sweat shirts and dark pants.
When the customer returned to the store, he found 62 year old Rebecca "Becky" Hough of Indianapolis on the floor of the business. It was not immediately known if she was shot or suffered from blunt force trauma. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene minutes later.
Her family has been notified. Hough is believed to have been employed at the store for over 20 years and was well known in the neighborhood.
