Wednesday morning at the site of the new Wishard construction project, community leaders will join Wishard officials and staff to celebrate the $40 million contribution from Sidney and Lois Eskenazi for the new Wishard hospital facilities. This is the largest gift ever made to Wishard and one of the largest gifts to a public hospital in the history of the United States.
The Eskenazis expressed gratitude for the opportunity to positively affect so many people, citing Wishard’s ability to have a positive impact throughout the community – with nearly 1.4 million outpatient visits each year, as well as its role in medical education – as a key motivator in making the contribution.
The announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the site of The New Wishard Project at 10th and Elmwood Streets.
