Would be robber shot on north side

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives say a man who attempted to either rob or car jack another man at the intersection of College and Fairfield Avenues has been shot.

Police say a man in his 4-door Lexus was at the intersection when a 25-year-old man came up to the driver's window, pointed a gun in his face, and demanded money.

Detectives say the driver had a handgun and fired one shot hitting the would be robber in the stomach.

The wounded would be robber was taken to Wishard Hospital.

The driver was questioned and police say the shot was fired in self defense.
