  3. Down to the wire: Final ads released in Indiana Senate race

With less than four days before the Indiana Senate primary, incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar and his challenger Richard Mourdock made their closing arguments in new television ads released Friday - the final spots of a long, often-times ugly nomination battle.

  5. Don't believe the Iowa hype

To the Republican voters in the other 49 states, I sympathize with you. It must be painful to turn on every cable and broadcast network, read the websites and follow the blogs and realize that you mean absolutely nothing when it comes to choosing a GOP nominee for president of the United States.

  7. Commentary: It's too late for Chris Christie to run

I'm a Chris Christie fan. He's refreshing, he's raw, he takes on the big challenges, especially fiscal ones, and he's a Republican governor in a blue state, a helpful fact for a presidential candidate. But he's also late -- too late to successfully mount a winning campaign for the Republican nomination.

  9. Commentary: Stupid voters set the stage for broken government

Whenever I visit Washington, I can't help but think this is the town that elected a crackhead as its mayor.
    CNN Contributor
Whenever I visit Washington, I can't help but think this is the town that elected a crackhead as its mayor. I know, I know it's not PC to say, but just because it's insensitive doesn't mean it isn't true. But think about this: There is footage of Marion...

  11. Time's up Christie and Palin. In or out?

It's happened. The build-up and anxiety over whether folks like Chris Christie and Sarah Palin are going to throw their hats in the ring for the GOP presidential primary has reached critical mass.

  13. Why Herman Cain can't be president

There's a lot to like about Herman Cain. He's funny and personable. He's a great American success story. His 9-9-9 tax plan may be half-baked, but the concept behind the plan -- replace the corporate income tax with in effect a consumption tax -- has a lot to recommend it. (Although, the plan has a lot of problems, too.) Finally, in a political cycle that has seen too many coded racial attacks on President Obama and his family, it's a source of great pride to me to see an African-American topping my party's polls.

  19. Romney wins debate cross-examination

My favorite part of academic debate has always been the cross-examination period. We got a little piece of that (but not enough) in the Republican presidential debate Tuesday hosted by Bloomberg and the Washington Post. The presidential hopefuls were allowed to ask an opponent one question.

  21. Will tea party purists back imperfect Romney?

After watching the GOP presidential debate the other night, it was hard to avoid this conclusion: Mitt Romney looks more and more like the GOP presidential nominee. He's the best debater. He's got his issues and his rejoinders down pat. He brushes away his opponents like lint on his lapel. And all with such ease.

  23. CNN Poll of Polls: Romney & Cain battle for top spot

Talk about going from zero to 60 in no time. Go back just a month or two, and Herman Cain was near the bottom of the field of candidates in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Fast-forward to present day, and the businessman, former Godfather's Pizza CEO and radio talk show host is battling for the top spot.
