Mark Martin¿s long career has earned him respect from both fellow drivers and fans alike. Born in Arkansas in 1959, Martin raced dirt tracks for several years before joining the NASCAR circuit in 1981. He had little success and rejoined the American Speed Association in 1984.

Martin gave NASCAr another shot in 1987 running in the Busch series. He then started a relationship with car owner Jack Roush that lasted 19 years. Martin finally won his first race in Rockingham in 1989. Through the years he has won 35 races, finished in the top five 239 times and the top 10 385 times. Despite his success, he never won the season championship.

Martin has spent the last several seasons trying to retire but keeps getting pulled back. In 2008, joined Dale Earnhardt Inc, sharing a ride with Aric Almorola in the No. 8 car, formerly driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
