Speakers shared with the crowd a message of encouragement, hope, and empowerment. This year, the 39th annual celebration will offer a long list of events such as a film festival, children's day, black business conference, Best Buy youth entrepreneur seminar, plus consumer exhibits.

"Really thinking about what the people want and what might be best for the community. " Chelsea Hendon, IBE Spokesperson.
Summer celebration organizers say they know people are struggling right now due to the bad economy. This year, they're offering something they hope people can't refuse. There will be an array of events inside the convention center, including a series of concerts that were previously priced at $50 to $72. This year, you can pay a very low cost of $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
" If this is something we can do to make it a tad bit easier for people to enjoy, let's see what can do to make it easier for people." Hendon.
IBE leaders say they have events that will inform and inspire all ages. Just like past years, security will be a top priority. They will work with Metro police, Indiana State Police, Convention Center Security officers, and faith based patrols.
"We've been meeting for months with a security plan and we want people to come and have a good time. But we also want people to be responsible." Tony McGee, IBE V.P. Sales & Marketing.
The money raised helps to support IBE's youth and family programming.
