Picture: Car hits building downtown; two hurt

Two men have been taken to Wishard Hospital after they crash into a building at Michigan Street and Dorman Street. The intensity of the crash left green paint on the building. (FOX59, WXIN-TV / July 29, 2010)

Police say the 21 year old and 26 year old men were not wearing seat belts. One was thrown into the back seat from the force of the crash. IFD was called to the scene to put out a small engine fire.

Damon Squires saw it all.

"I was up in my room and I heard some tires screetching out of control and I know there was going to be an accident cause it was goin' to fast and real loud and the next thing I heard was like BOOM and like an explosion so I run down here to see what was goin' on and this is what I come down to."

Police say speed, bad tires, and wet roads all played a roll in the crash.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time they have seen an accident here. Police say drivers going too fast is a problem along this stretch of Michigan Street in downtown Indianapolis.
